Crockery

Recycle at home

Recycle out of home

Yes, crockery can be recycled at some out of home recycling points.

How to recycle crockery

  • Donate items that are still in a good, usable condition to charities or charity shops;

  • Disposable plates made from plastic or paper/card can be recycled if they are wiped clean and free from food to be re-used. Otherwise, they need to be placed in your bag or bin for non-recyclable waste;

  • Place broken crockery in your bag or bin for non-recyclable waste.

Disposable plates and bowls

As with disposable cutlery, the best thing to do is avoid using disposable plates and bowls if possible. An EU Plastics Directive means that disposable plastic plates and bowls will also be phased out, including in the UK in due course.
