Power up the Six Nations – Fuel up, cut waste and help Wales reach No.1!

However Wales performs in this year’s Six Nations, when it comes to recycling, we’re already at the top of the league! We’re 2nd in the world, having climbed up from 3rd place - but we want that top spot!

Rescuing food from the rubbish is the ultimate game-changer to help us get there. Shockingly, a quarter of the average rubbish bin is made up of food waste - and 80% of it could have been eaten. That’s a staggering £89 a month wasted per household -money and meals straight in the bin!

Fuel up your Six Nations with winning zero-waste feasts

Whether you're fuelling up before kick-off, grabbing a bite at half-time, or celebrating a win, these quick, easy, and delicious dishes will help you rescue food from the bin and power up your Six Nations experience!

  • Chicken curry ‘half and half’ – The perfect half-time feast! Throw leftover chicken and veg into your favourite curry base and serve with homemade skin-on chips and rice - the classic Welsh ‘half and half’ combo!

  • Epic cheese toastie – A rugby staple! Level up your toastie with leftover ham, spinach, or sliced tomatoes for a winning snack.

  • Recovery shake – For the morning after! Blend leftover fruit, milk and even yoghurt for a refreshing energy boost to get back in the game.

Recycle What You Can’t Eat – and Power the Six Nations!

While you’re prepping your match-day feasts, don’t let those inedible bits go to waste - recycle those bones, eggshells and inedible peeling to help generate renewable energy!

In Wales, food waste is transformed into clean, green power through anaerobic digestion, keeping homes, communities… and even the Six Nations powered up:

  • Power your TV at home – One caddy full of food waste = 2 hours of electricity – enough to watch both halves of the game, plus the post-match chat!

  • Light up the Principality Stadium – Bananas fuel the players, and banana skins can fuel the game! If everyone in Wales recycled just one banana skin, we could keep the stadium floodlights powered for 10 whole days.

  • Keep your drinks cold – A single caddy of food waste can power a fridge for 18 hours - plenty of time to chill your beers for the big game!

Your food waste has power – use it!

Every meal saved and every food scrap recycled gets Wales closer to the No.1 recycling spot! Rescue your food from the bin by whipping up delicious match-day dishes and recycle what you can’t eat to help power homes, communities, and…. the game itself.
